After more than 20 years in the field of R&D in environmental acoustics, I had the opportunity to participate in numerous research projects, to lead research, to supervise young researchers, to carry out scientific expertise, to organize conferences and technical days, to give lectures, to participate in scientific popularization actions...
While running a laboratory, I continue my own research activities, focusing mainly on the development of software, numerical and measurement tools for the prediction and reduction of noise pollution in the environment: participatory noise measurement with mobile phones, noise prediction & GIS software, low-cost sensor network for noise observation...

After a PhD thesis on the subject of the modeling of the acoustic propagation in streets, in the Laboratoire d'Acoustique de l'Université du Mans (1994-1998), I was recruited at the Laboratoire Centrale des Ponts et Chaussées (LCPC, 1998) to continue my works on the subject of urban acoustics.
During this first period (1998-2008), I devoted my studies to a better understanding and modeling of the propagative phenomena in urban environment (effect of façade scattering, effect of diffusion by fitting objects in street , meteorological effects, effect of tree barriers, multi-scale modeling of acoustic propagation...). In addition, during this first period, I also developed an expertise on the modeling of acoustic fields in buildings and rooms. All these works allowed me to develop computational codes (MDF/Scattering Model, SPPS/Sound Particles, TLM/Transmission Line Model), which have been integrated in a simulation platform (I-Simpa), for research purposes, now released in Open Source, and used by a large community (researchers, teachers and students, professionals).
From 2008, my work turned to the mapping of noise pollution in the environment, leading me to work with specialists in geographic information of the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research). The collaborations grew and gave birth in 2017 to the Noise-Planet.org project, which aims to propose innovative/alternative solutions for the evaluation of noise environments. This project has released several tools: NoiseModelling, a noise mapping tool in a GIS environment; NoiseCapture, a smartphone application associated with a web platform for the collaborative production of noise maps. The work and tools developed within the framework of NoisePlanet have met a strong interest at the international level and are now widely used by different communities. In parallel, I also worked on the use of low-cost sensors for the evaluation and characterization of sound environments, in partnership with specialists in sensor design, sound source identification and sound environment quality assessment. During this last period, the valorization of the work in an Open Science form was essential.
In practice, during these two periods, I have supervised students and PhD students, and contributed to several national and international research projects (some as a pilot), and participated in expert groups... In parallel, as the LCPC evolved into Ifsttar, then into the Gustave Eiffel University, I was led to take the direction of the LCPC Acoustics team in 2008, then to create the Environmental Acoustics Laboratory (LAE) in 2013, then the Environmental Acoustics Research Unit (UMRAE), in 2018, between two national institutions (Gustave Eiffel University and Cerema).
