Activités de recherche

Jean-Michel Simonin est ingénieur en mécanique et micro-technique, docteur en génie mécanique et génie civil. Il travaille à l’université Gustave Eiffel crée en 2020 (ex IFSTTAR, ex LCPC) depuis 1992. Il a pris en charge la direction du Laboratoire Auscultation Modélisation et Expérimentation des infraStructures de transports depuis 2020 après en avoir été directeur adjoint pendant 3 ans.

Ses activités portent sur l’auscultation des structures de chaussées et principalement le développement de méthodes non destructives. Il a d’abord dirigé des projets de développement de matériel et rédigé des méthodes d’auscultation routière avant de s’investir plus dans la recherche. Il a aussi évalué les performances de différents matériels comme les systèmes radar ou des déflectomètres à grande vitesse dans le cadre de projet européen (FORMAT). Il a dirigé des projets de recherche au niveau national et participé à plusieurs projets européen. Il participe à des groupes d’échanges nationaux (radar, auscultation) et internationaux (FWD user, DARTS, BeCATS) sur les thématiques de l’auscultation.

Research activity

Jean-Michel Simonin is engineer in mechanics and micro-technology. He is also doctor in mechanics and civil engineering. He works at Gustave Eiffel University created in 2020 (ex IFSTTAR and LCPC) since 1992 in the LAboratory for Modelling, Experimentation and Survey of transport infrastructures (LAMES). He is head of LAMES since 2020.

Its activities include monitoring of pavement structures, and focus more particularly on the development of non-destructive methods. He first led devlopement of new device and written several road inspection guides. He also evaluated the performance of different materials such as GPR or high speed deflectometers for the European project FORMAT. He has led research projects at the national level and participated in several European projects. He participates in national exchange groups (radar, auscultation) and international (FWD user, DARTS, BECATS) on the themes of pavement investigation.
