Géographe et cartographe, mes travaux portent sur l'analyse des interactions spatiales et territoriales du point de vue de leur représentation (carto)graphique, principalement sous la forme de flux origine-destination.
Je m'intéresse en particulier aux aspects théoriques et conceptuels, aussi méthodologiques de la construction cartographique des flux et mouvements qui s'expriment dans l'espace géographique.
Mes travaux actuels s'organisent autour de trois axes :
- la consolidation du concept de « mouvement » introduit dans ma thèse [voir] et sa mobilisation dans le processus de cartographie des interactions par des flux origine-destination;
- la participation au développement d’outils innovants d’analyse et de géo visualisation des interactions territoriales (voir notamment arabesque) ;
- le développement d'une approche critique de la cartographie statistique (thématique), en particulier de celle qui relève de mouvements mondiaux.
Ces travaux s'inscrivent notamment dans le cadre de collaborations structurantes de recherches réalisées dans un contexte interdisciplinaire. Elles consistent notamment à développer une approche analytique de la géo visualisation des flux et des réseaux ou, plus récemment à ré-examiner les travaux de Waldo R. Tobler [ voir Tribute to Tobler - TTT ]. Je co-coordonne également à ce titre l'action de recherche nationale n°9 (Carto)graphies et (Géo)visualisations de données du GdR MAGIS.

As a geographer and cartographer, my work focuses on the analysis of spatial and territorial interactions, through their (carto)graphic representation, mainly in the form of origin-destination flow maps.
I am particularly interested in the theoretical and conceptual, as well as methodological, aspects of the cartographic construction of flows and movements that are expressed in geographical space.
My current work is organized around three axes:
- the consolidation of the concept of "movement" introduced in my PhD and its mobilization in the cartographic process;
- the participation in the development of innovative tools for the analysis and geo-visualization of flows and networks [e.g. arabesque);
- the development of a critical approach to (thematic) statistical mapping, in particular the one related to global movements.
This work is part of structuring collaborations of research carried out in an interdisciplinary context. They consist in particular in developing an analytical approach to the geo-visualization of flows and networks [see geoflowiz] or more recently in re-examining the work of Waldo R. Tobler [see Tribute to Tobler - TTT].
